Waste Pro USA is looking for a motivated and experienced Assistant Fleet Manager to join our maintenance team of diesel mechanics in Pompano. This important managerial role involves supervising a team of skilled diesel mechanics, managing workflow, and ensuring the safe and efficient operation of Waste Pro’s fleet of vehicles, equipment, and containers. Additionally, you will step in as the Manager‑on‑Duty when needed.

The Assistant Fleet Manager reports directly to the Fleet Manager and plays a key role in supporting the Division’s maintenance operations. This leadership position helps guide and support the maintenance staff while ensuring daily processes run smoothly and efficiently. Responsibilities include assisting with inspections, repairs, preventive maintenance, vehicle readiness, and overall shop organization. In this role, you’ll work side‑by‑side with the Fleet Manager and Operations teams to keep the fleet safe, reliable, and cost‑effective.

- Assist in departmental hiring, training, coaching, performance management, discipline, scheduling of work assignments, and overtime authorization.
- Maintain an ongoing preventive/corrective maintenance program.
- Review status reports including road calls, breakdowns, parts inventory, repairs, and safety performance.
- Provide hands‑on maintenance assistance as needed.
- Educate driver responsibilities as it relates to DVIRs, operation of fleet vehicles, and basic CDL requirements.
- Ensure all maintenance‑related data is available in the vehicle maintenance system.
- Monitor dossier efficiencies to include inventory control and performance metrics.
- Assist in purchasing new vehicles, equipment, tools and containers.
- Establish maintenance‑related training sessions that improve overall fleet condition and operational knowledge.
- Administer and monitor regional adherence to federal and state programs and oversee maintenance in accordance with EPA and other mandatory regulations.
- Verify implementations of required DOT, OSHA, EPA regulations and monitor conformance.
- Ensure efficient utilization, vehicle maintenance quality, and transportation to ready‑lines.
- Maintain fleet inventory/condition reporting.
- Assist with divisional maintenance budgets.
- Implement and monitor all fleet maintenance activities (e.g., pre/post pre‑trip, safety lane, warranty recovery, tire standards).
- Facilitate movement of equipment between divisions.
- Evaluate body damage estimates related to maintenance and fleet functions; manage cost controls.
- Evaluate equipment performance and recommend modifications or alternate vendors.
- Analyze service issues related to fleet maintenance, perform root cause analysis, recommend remediation, and escalations.
- Assist in purchases.
- Support efforts to create useful metrics and performance reporting tools to support fleet quality trending.
