Croquet Manager – The Plantation at Ponte Vedra Beach

Location: Ponte Vedra Beach, FL 32082

Pay Range: $60,000 – $70,000 per year (based on skills and experience)

Job Summary

The Croquet Manager leads, trains, develops, and organizes all activities of the Croquet Program, ensuring alignment with the club’s strategic and operational objectives. The role involves cultivating high engagement in both social and competitive programs and expanding participation among members.

Key Objectives
  • Build, improve, and maintain strong social Croquet programming
  • Increase Croquet communications to all members
  • Maximize and ensure efficient utilization of Croquet lawns
  • Introduce new game formats to players
  • Encourage new players to try the sport
  • Increase member satisfaction as evidenced by the annual Member Survey
Responsibilities
  • Chair the Croquet Committee, preparing and distributing meeting agendas and minutes
  • Oversee daily court maintenance, including lawn conditions and hoop/peg/flags
  • Maintain the equipment locker on a weekly basis
  • Manage the court reservation system and assess current set‑up procedures
  • Control organizational and administrative functions
  • Establish and manage a calendar of events, including open play, mixers, and inter‑club events
  • Provide instruction, lessons, clinics, drills, and advanced strategy based on player skill
  • Conduct skills assessments and handicap administration as needed
  • Organize internal club tournaments, designate USCA referees, and interact with the Croquet Committee and the Plantation Croquet Association
  • Recruit, develop, and train the club travel team
  • Maintain diverse Croquet equipment and club apparel in the Racquets Pro Shop
  • Ensure staff presence at the Croquet facility during scheduled playtime
  • Develop the annual budget and monitor monthly expenditures
  • Communicate Croquet events, activities, and scheduling changes to members
  • Increase Plantation membership participation in Croquet activities
  • Serve as liaison to the USCA and maintain annual USCA membership
  • Liaise with the FCCL and other inter‑club organizations
Qualifications / Requirements
  • Teaching or instruction experience
  • Playing ability with a preferred handicap
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with players of all levels
  • Experience organizing internal tournaments
  • Knowledge of court maintenance and reservation systems
  • Proven leadership and decision‑making skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organization and administrative abilities
  • Attention to detail and a sense of urgency
  • Certification in Croquet rules and play, and knowledge of Croquet strategies
  • Excellent customer‑service skills and ability to work in a fast‑paced environment
  • Flexibility and willingness to take on new tasks
  • Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
Physical Requirements

Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds; stand, sit, and walk for long periods; and be on feet for 6+ hours a day.

Working Conditions

Indoors, outdoors, and in an office setting; exposure to varying weather conditions including extreme heat, cold, dryness, and wetness.

Education / Experience

USCA certification or equivalent experience preferred for Croquet beginner, intermediate, and advanced training programs.

Equipment & Software Used

Computer, printer, telephone, Pacesetter, Instagram, Facebook, Linked In.

Typical Hours

Monday through Friday or Tuesday through Saturday, 9 am–7 pm; occasional weekend/holiday/evening work; additional hours may be required during busy seasons.
