The Field Technician is responsible for maintaining the integrity from start to finish of the power systems, scoreboards, and the Shot Link portable structures. This position maintains power insertion points and load balance for the Shot Link Power System, installs cameras, generators and other equipment throughout the course, and performs failover testing to determine and solve equipment problems. It includes solving and preventing power and data issues, and communicating with the team and other departments to provide issue resolution promptly.
The role may also involve driving trucks to and from events, operating golf carts, and maintaining the golf cart fleet.
- Technical Associate degree preferred, high school diploma or equivalent required.
- Three years of related experience preferred, preferably in outdoor construction, golf operations, tool usage, network/computer, mechanical repair, military service, utility or power installation.
- Clean driving record, CDL preferred.
- Must be able to multitask, have strong organizational and communication skills, initiative, dependability, and promptness.
- Ability to work effectively as an individual and as part of a team; military experience a plus.
- Technical knowledge for set up, maintenance, and troubleshooting equipment preferred.
- Working experience with system repair, engineering tasks, and other troubleshooting activities preferred.
- Prior customer service experience preferred.
- Requires domestic and international travel, including nonstandard schedules, early mornings, late evenings, weekends, holidays, or on‑call shifts that may extend two weeks or more at a time.
- Installation of Shot Link cameras, scoreboards, and other equipment, and golf cart maintenance.
- Management of scoring data for assigned/designated holes each week.
- Collaboration with the onsite Manager on daily activities and responsibilities.
- Oversight of set up for tournament power systems and equipment and resolution of issues arising from weather, power, vendor support, etc.
- Maintenance of power insertion points/layouts for the Shot Link Power System and load balancing to maintain amperage and voltage specifications; monitoring and troubleshooting throughout events.
- Conducting weekly system fail‑over tests and troubleshooting power system solutions to ensure integrity and functionality of the Shot Link Scoring System.
- Maintaining a weekly inventory of gas generators, including regular maintenance and repairs.
- Installing, configuring, and troubleshooting Shot Link Scoring system equipment.
- Providing first‑level support to solve and prevent power issues, data and circuit outages, and communicating with the team and other departments for prompt resolution.
- Ensuring proper setup and correct location of Shot Link trailers, portable structure trailers, and fiber trailers.
- Ensuring all safety and competition protocols are followed.
- Training volunteers/spotters for on‑course communication with Score Techs while tracking player shots.
- Performing routine maintenance on golf cart fleet and handling needed repairs.
- Assisting with unloading, packing, and completing asset inventory.
- Mentoring new Field Technicians and providing on‑site training or coaching as needed.
- Driving trucks to and from events.
