Who are we?
We are a family business established in Yorkshire in 1997 based in Darrington just outside of Pontefract with a reputation for exceptional product, innovation, and industry leading animal welfare standards. Our facilities combine traditional British butchery technique with some of the best technological prowess in the food sector.
A committed team of over 700 staff oversee the whole process from procuring the best possible livestock from our carefully picked group of farms, through butchery, retail packaging and despatch before it finally arrives on the supermarket shelf or as part of the restaurant dining experience.
About you:
- Attention to detail with a diligent approach to work activities
- Good communication with staff across site and external visitors.
- Ability to work under pressure whilst maintaining quality and speed.
Role:
- Develop and maintain new and existing product packaging processes to ensure their safe transfer into a factory process and end consumer
- Support the preparation and submission of packaging-related regulatory information, including
Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) declarations and other environmental submissions required by customers. - Collect and maintain accurate packaging data, including material type, weight, and recyclability
- Maintain the packaging EPR Extended Producer Responsibility database
- Coordinate with internal teams - NPD, Account, Purchasing to obtain required packaging information.
- Maintain bills of material records - working closely with BOM controller.
- Take all new packaging from customer approval through to factory launch following the company procedures.
- Develop and get approval for new factory processes including new machinery
- Take active involvement in product development to cover potential issues with packaging/ product concepts
- Coordinate and report transit trials for new and EPD packaging
- Complete trial record documentation for all trials in line with customer policies and BRC requirements
- Build relationships with packaging and machinery suppliers
- To comply with all customer policies.
- Investigate and trial any packaging improvements that can be made for existing products, i.e. high complaints.
- Planning and conducting packaging trials, including line, transit, abuse, and materials testing.
- Communicating project progress to wider business
