Registered Nurse (Maternity Cover - Fixed Term)
To assess plan, implement and evaluate nursing care and to promote a positive and professional atmosphere. To demonstrate and develop high quality nursing care through evidence based practice and to supervise, teach and develop staff in the nursing team. To demonstrate compassion, commitment, caring, competence, quality and safety in delivering patient centered care.
Main duties of the jobAs a Registered Nurse at our Hospice, you’ll play a vital role in delivering high-quality, evidence-based nursing care to patients nearing the end of life. Working closely with patients, families and carers, you’ll promote dignity, comfort and choice, while supporting the emotional and physical well-being of those we care for.
You’ll be part of a multidisciplinary team committed to excellence, continuous learning, and compassionate care. You’ll also contribute to mentoring and developing junior staff and students, ensuring a positive and professional environment for all.

Our 14‑bed inpatient unit, located just minutes from Junction 32 of the M62 in Pontefract, also offers outpatient and community services, including a successful Lymphoedema clinic.

(Maternity Cover - Fixed Term)
Location: The Prince of Wales Hospice, WF8 4BG
This is a fixed-term position to provide maternity cover for approximately 12 months from May 2026 to May 2027.
At The Prince of Wales Hospice, we provide specialist palliative care in a supportive and respectful environment. Our 14‑bed inpatient unit, located just minutes from Junction 32 of the M62 in Pontefract, also offers outpatient and community services, including a successful Lymphoedema clinic.
About the Role
As a Registered Nurse at our Hospice, you’ll play a vital role in delivering high-quality, evidence-based nursing care to patients nearing the end of life. About You:
We’re looking for someone who is not only clinically skilled but also deeply empathetic and committed to hospice values.
To succeed in this role, you will have:
NMC Registration.
Strong knowledge of infection control and evidence-based practice.
Excellent communication, organisation, and interpersonal skills.
Confidence in contributing to audits, team meetings and quality improvement initiatives.
Mentorship skills to support students and new colleagues.
