Position Description
The General Manager provides passion, leadership, and strategic direction while upholding Wally’s standards of excellence. They are responsible for overseeing all store operations, managing personnel, ensuring product quality, and delivering superior guest service. The General Manager serves as the primary driver of culture, accountability, and performance, working a minimum of 50 hours per week, including most weekends and holidays.
Responsibilities and DutiesLeadership & Culture
- Foster a positive, high-performance workplace built on Wally’s values, policies, and procedures.
- Serve as a role model, mentor, and coach, inspiring excellence in both leadership and team members.
- Solve problems, make informed decisions, and manage the workforce effectively to achieve operational goals.
- Recruit, hire, develop, and retain strong leaders and team members across all departments.
- Oversee training and professional development, ensuring consistent service standards.
- Conduct performance evaluations for Assistant Managers and oversee accountability for all team members.
- Ensure execution of daily operations across all departments, providing support during peak times.
- Monitor staffing levels to align with business needs, balancing labor efficiency and guest satisfaction.
- Uphold and document compliance with Wally’s handbook, policies, and procedures.
- Manage store budgets, control labor and overtime, and ensure profitable operations.
- Analyze business results, identify areas of improvement, and implement action plans to maximize performance.
- Maintain strong communication with Wally’s corporate leadership and Insperity.
- Promote cross-department collaboration to ensure seamless guest experiences.
- Perform additional duties as required and/or assigned.
- Thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
- Perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Bachelor’s degree in business, hospitality, retail, or related field preferred; OR equivalent combination of education and 3–5 years of management experience.
- Experience in retail, convenience, food service, or multi-department management strongly preferred.
- Proven ability to lead diverse teams in a high-volume, guest-focused environment.
- Ability to stand/walk for extended periods (8–12 hours).
- Availability to work a rotating schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Consistent, reliable, and punctual attendance.
