Industrial Wastewater Treatment Operator IV | Amentum | Pontiac, IL
Amentum is seeking several Industrial Wastewater Treatment Operator IV positions. Typical work schedule: AWS 12‑hour shifts (6 a.m. – 6 p.m. or 6 p.m. – 6 a.m.) with flexibility based on business demand.
Responsibilities- Operate and maintain industrial wastewater treatment plant.
- Follow procedures for cleaning, equipment use, maintenance, calibration, and safe handling of chemicals.
- Collect samples and conduct in‑plant tests necessary to control and monitor treatment facility processes and operation.
- Perform in‑plant operational control tests and process calculations using analytical instruments and mathematical calculations.
- Record in‑plant test results, meter readings, gauge readings, flow quantities, and other technical data.
- Perform in‑plant maintenance according to schedules and procedures, including cleaning, servicing, lubricating, and repairing pumps, chemical feed equipment, electrical/mechanical devices found in wastewater treatment facilities.
- Analyze and resolve work problems or assist workers in solving work problems.
- Understand company policies and enforce safety regulations.
- Safely perform functions of the position, following proper safety guidelines such as job hazard analysis, lockout/tagout procedures, and wearing required PPE.
- Demonstrate attention to detail, comprehensive analytical skills, and excellent organizational skills.
- Maintain a strict schedule while demonstrating flexibility in day‑to‑day activities to benefit the customer.
- Operate air, steam, and water systems and associated equipment, including chillers, water towers, air compressors, boilers, and heat exchangers.
- Other duties as assigned by Manager or Supervisor.
- Regularly lift up to 50 lbs.
- Regularly climb extension ladders, roof ladders, stepladders, and stairs at least 10 times during a shift.
- Regularly bend/stoop, squat, and perform repetitive tasks during a shift.
- Regularly kneel and perform repetitive tasks during a shift.
- Regularly move in a 90‑degree fashion repetitively during a shift.
- Regularly stretch/reach repetitively during a shift.
- Walk extensively throughout the plant during a shift.
- Use a Company/Client approved utility knife.
- Differentiates colors pertaining to piping color‑coding.
- Requires repetitive wrist movement.
- Interacts professionally and friendly with all clients, even during periods of stress.
- Certify as a fork truck and aerial lift operator.
- Wear steel‑toe safety shoes, safety glasses, gloves, hard hats, and other PPE as needed.
- Cope with job demands and stressors to maintain acceptable performance levels.
- Participate in required safety and administrative training.
- Obtain Class K Operator License within 18 months of hire.
- Pass client access badge requirements.
- High school diploma or demonstrated equivalent.
- 7‑10 years of industrial wastewater experience.
- 7‑10 years of maintenance experience of industrial wastewater.
- Previous Class K operator certificate.
- Qualified applicants must pass a pre‑employment substance abuse test.
- Position may require a valid driver’s license.
- No sponsorship for U.S. work authorization.
- Position will require obtaining a security access badge at the client’s location.
- Position may require various shifts, weekends, and alternative work schedules.
- Knowledge of and certification in water/wastewater systems; experience with computer control systems.
- Experience with Clarification and Dissolved Air Floatation.
- Knowledge of sanitary treatment processes, including lagoons and activated sludge.
- Experience with a SCADA‑aware process control program.
- Able to work proficiently on a PC, performing e‑mail functions, documentation, and reporting using MS Office programs.
- Commitment to maintaining a safe work environment, applying proper safety practices and following procedures during maintenance tasks.
