Talascend is currently seeking a Validation Engineer for an opportunity in Pontiac, Michigan.

Overview

The role involves planning, developing methods, and carrying out system and component-level testing in world‑class labs. It is a hands‑on position that requires creativity, independent judgment, and multi‑functional teamwork.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute comprehensive test plans, test methods and test automation to support validation sign‑off, address challenges as they arise in a rapidly growing industry.
  • Applies analytical tools in validation process.
  • Support an Agile Team‑based structure where you will rotate through fresh assignments supporting test execution, process innovation, and moving toward virtual (hardware‑less) validation techniques.
  • Operate with focus on safety in state‑of‑the‑art test lab environments.
  • Investigate testing anomalies and generate reports to highlight findings.
  • Perform and support root cause analysis and correction of system level problems relating to hardware validation.
  • Analyze and peer review test results and participate in data‑driven efficiency initiatives.
  • Engage in programs as production‑intent designs are available and see them through to launch.
  • Coordinates and consults with various departments outside engineering.
  • Collaborates interfaces with Component and System Validation Engineers.
  • Stays abreast of new technology and competitive products.
Qualifications
  • BS in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Computer Science, or Physics
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Physics, Math, Computer Science, Information Technology, or Chemistry
  • Minimum of 2 years of post‑graduation engineering experience
  • Demonstrated excellence in communication and collaboration in a diverse team environment.
  • Ability to learn complex system functions (i.e. engine, transmission, electric propulsion (Drive units & RESS)) quickly.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence without authority.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills and ability to work with cross‑functional teams.
  • Knowledge of reliability & durability calculations.
  • Demonstrated adaptability and ability to change with program modifications/updates.
  • Self‑motivated to work independently.
Preferred Requirements
  • Experience with electrical, thermal, or chemical virtual modeling and simulation.
  • Willing to gain specific training from a variety of people / techniques.
  • Proficient with Inca and/or Puma.
  • Calibration and/or development experience.
  • Outstanding data‑driven decision‑making history.
  • Demonstrated analytical ability for unusual and difficult problems.
  • Familiar with laboratory operations and test equipment including engine/transmission dynamo meters, load frames, power supplies, electrodynamic shakers, environmental chambers, test site controllers, continuous monitoring, fixture design/fabrication, test equipment/setups, and laboratory accreditation standards.
  • Experience with RESS (battery) durability and safety testing.
  • Working knowledge of Li‑Ion Battery cell, modules, and batteries.
  • Experience in one or several areas:
    Vehicle or System‑Level Calibration, ICE or Conventional Transmission Development or Validation, Instrumentation & Test Automation.
