Description: The Sterile Processing Educator is accountable to the Sterile Processing Manager for developing, coordinating, and integrating staff education, training, competencies, professional practices, and quality audit processes in the Operating Room and Endoscopy settings, in accordance with AMMI and AORN Standards for reprocessing Surgical Instrumentation and Endoscopes. The Educator serves as part of the management team, responsible for assessing, designing, developing, administering, and measuring technical and performance requirements/skills for all instrument processing and workflow between Sterile Processing and the Operating Room.
This role also involves maintaining ongoing review and knowledge of new technologies and instrumentation that reduce costs, improve sterilization quality, and maintaining Quality Assurance databases. Education responsibilities include training new staff and encouraging current staff to obtain SP Certification.
