3G Part Time Dayshift Patient Support Tech

Saint Joseph Mercy Health System, Trinity Health Oakland Hospital (497‑bed community teaching hospital, level II trauma center).

The Patient Support Technician collaborates with the Registered Nurse and the health care team to deliver direct patient care, coordinate unit processes, and promote quality patient experiences.

• Provide bedside care and selected procedures under RN supervision (venipuncture, 12‑lead EKG, blood glucose, respiratory care, dressing changes, vital signs, emptying and measuring drainage equipment).
• Perform activities of daily living appropriate to the patient’s condition.
• Maintain accurate patient records, patient roster/census, and unit communication (calls from physicians, other departments, and visitors).
• Assist with patient education under RN direction and provide individualized care consistent with the plan of care.
• Participate in unit‑based committees and safety initiatives.
• Demonstrate proper body mechanics, customer service, and adherence to hospital policies and state/local regulations.

• High school diploma or GED (equivalent).
• At least 6 months of direct patient care experience within the past 5 years, or completion of a Patient Care Technician program with an acute care externship.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification by the American Heart Association (or equivalent).
• If EMT, current licensure in the State of Michigan.
