Accountability Objectives
Provide a safe, clean and sanitary environment for patients, visitors and staff. Performs a variety of departmental functions and tasks primarily focused on repetitive cleaning and sanitation following established department and hospital policies; using safe work practices and following state and federal regulatory compliance guidelines. Coordinates with department leadership and the Logistics Center to meet the environmental services needs of the organization.

Position Qualifications EducationHigh School diploma or GED preferred. Ability to read and write required.

Special Skill / Aptitudes- Excellent customer service orientation skills necessary to deal effectively with hospital personnel, outside customers and community groups.
- Ability to bend, stoop, push and lift heavy objects up to 35 lbs.
- Ability to learn and perform various job‑related tasks.
- Ability to work in a health‑care environment and be sensitive to patient, visitor and staff needs while respecting dignity.
- Ability to make decisions for the safety of patients, visitors and staff.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a “team” environment to complete goals and tasks.
- Ability to modify work plans and priorities to ensure completion of assignments to support patient care.
- Previous experience performing housekeeping activities in a clinical environment preferred.
- Report for work on time, appropriately dressed in uniform (including hospital‑issued technology) and ready to work in the assigned area.
- Use SJMO‑issued technology, software and passwords to ensure access to all systems (e.g., Email, Bed tracking).
- Takes all breaks at the assigned time in authorized areas unless prior approval is given by the department supervisor.
- Remains in the assigned work area unless directed elsewhere; notify the assigned supervisor to request permission to leave.
