Overview
Provide a safe, clean and sanitary environment for patients, visitors and staff. Performs a variety of departmental functions and tasks primarily focused on floor care and sanitation. Additional role includes performing duties as Environmental Services Technician I, according to established department and hospital procedures and policies, using safe work practices and following state and federal regulatory compliance guidelines. Coordinates with department Leadership and Logistics Center to meet the needs of the environmental services needs of the organization.

ResponsibilitiesProvide a safe, clean and sanitary environment for patients, visitors and staff. Performs a variety of departmental functions and tasks primarily focused on floor care and sanitation. Additional duties include performing Environmental Services Technician I tasks according to established department and hospital procedures and policies, using safe work practices and following regulatory guidelines. Coordinate with department Leadership and Logistics Center to meet the environmental services needs of the organization.
Qualifications- Education
- High School diploma or GED preferred.
- Ability to read and write required.
- Licensure / Certification
- Valid Driver's License preferred.
- Special Skills / Aptitudes
- Excellent customer service orientation skills necessary to deal effectively with hospital personnel, outside customers and community groups.
- Physical/Functional Abilities
- Ability to bend and stoop, push, pull and manage equipment of up to 250 lbs. and independently lift heavy objects up to 55 lbs.
- General Abilities
- Ability to learn and perform various job related tasks.
- Ability to work in a healthcare environment and be sensitive to the needs and dignity of patients, visitors and staff.
- Ability to make decisions for the safety of patients, visitors and staff.
- Ability to work with others collaboratively within a team environment to complete goals and tasks.
- Ability to modify work plans and priorities to ensure the completion of assignments requested to support patient care.
- Experience
- One year of Environmental Services Technician I experience or similar experience in a health care setting.
- One year experience in floor care cleaning and refinishing, carpet and upholstery cleaning, and operation/ basic repair of related equipment (burnisher, scrubber, vacuum).
