Instrument Technician

STS Technical Services is hiring an Instrument Technician in Pontiac, Michigan. This role is ideal for professionals with hands-on experience repairing, testing, adjusting, and installing electronic and industrial control equipment in a manufacturing or industrial environment.

The Instrument Technician is responsible for maintaining, calibrating, and repairing electronic equipment such as industrial controls, transmitters, antennas, and related systems. This position plays a critical role in ensuring equipment reliability, accuracy, and safe operation.

• Perform scheduled preventive maintenance tasks including inspection, cleaning, and repair of equipment to identify and prevent potential failures
• Review work orders and communicate with equipment operators to diagnose equipment issues and determine whether mechanical or human factors contributed
• Set up and test industrial equipment to verify proper operation
• Operate equipment to demonstrate correct use and analyze malfunctions
• Repair and adjust equipment, machines, and defective components
• Replace worn parts such as gaskets and seals in watertight electrical equipment
• Calibrate testing instruments and installed or repaired equipment to required specifications

• Basic knowledge of circuit boards, processors, chips, electronic equipment, and computer hardware
• Basic knowledge of machines and tools, including design, use, repair, and maintenance

• Associate’s degree or equivalent experience or training required
• Two to four years of relevant experience required
