General SummaryAre you ready to utilize your technical skills in a role that directly supports public safety? Join a team that keeps Oakland County’s critical communication systems running smoothly, helping first responders stay connected when it matters most.
What You’ll Do- Perform skilled preventive maintenance and repairs on the County’s advanced digital communications systems, including the 700/800 MHz Motorola P25 simulcast subsystem of the Michigan Public Safety Communications System (MPSCS) and the 420 MHz Moto Trbo radio communications network.
- Support and maintain pager and fire hall alerting systems used by public safety professionals across the County.
- Attend specialized training sessions to deepen your expertise in digital radio system repair, maintenance, and emerging technologies.
- Stay current on system software used by the unit and assess opportunities for upgrades or enhancements.
- You’ll work with cutting‑edge radio and communications technology.
- Your contributions directly support first responders and community safety.
- Continuous training and professional development keep your skills growing.
Minimum Qualifications
- Must be a high school graduate or have a certificate of successful completion of the General Education Development (G.E.D.) Test.
- Have at least three (3) years of full‑time work experience in the installation, configuration, diagnostics, maintenance and repair of radio systems and components; or
- Possess an Associate’s degree or equivalent education with a major in Physics, Electronics Technology, Electronic Engineering Technology, or a closely related area, and have at least one (1) year of full‑time professional work in the same field.
- Possess a valid motor vehicle operator’s or chauffeur’s license.
- Must pass a background check performed by the County or other appropriate agencies as required.

USD $56,685.00 – $70,588.00 per year.
