Performs professional veterinary work under the supervision of a Veterinarian to maintain the health and safety of animals. Examines all animals and their specimens for disease/illness and assesses treatment thereof. May perform euthanasia on animals as directed by the Veterinarian. Assists the Veterinarian in spaying and neutering of animals. Performs laboratory tests, including urinalysis, blood and fecal examinations. Prepares animal diets and medication as prescribed by the Veterinarian.

Works closely with the Oakland County Health Department regarding animal control regulations. Advises the public on care for domesticated animals. Maintains data and charts for all animals seen at the clinic. Evaluates incoming animals for disease and temperament, logging information for veterinarian review. Utilizes current countywide and department-specific software to complete assignments.

• High school diploma or GED
• Licensed as a Veterinarian Technician in Michigan
• At least 1 year experience as a Veterinarian Technician or in an animal hospital setting
• Valid U.S. driver’s license (out-of-country license holders must obtain a Michigan license)
• Passes the employment medical examination and complete the probation period

• Maintain valid Michigan Veterinarian Technician license
• Maintain valid U.S. driver’s license

USD $19.55 - USD $26.57 per hour
