HVAC Tech / Heating Engineer, Maintenance Technician / Mechanic
Join Trinity Health as a Powerplant Operator/HVAC Technician. This full‑time position is located in Oakland, MI and involves operating, inspecting, repairing, and maintaining mechanical equipment, hospital furnishings, and building automation systems across our campus.

Description: Full‑time Oakland Location
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
- Current High Pressure Boiler Operator license.
- Valid State of Michigan Driver's License.
- Experience:
Minimum of three (3) years of Powerhouse experience. - Strong working knowledge of HVAC and Building Automation Systems.
- Ability to read, write, perform mathematical computations, and interpret blueprints and technical specifications.
- Excellent customer service orientation skills.
- Responsible for all powerhouse equipment.
- Maintain heating, ventilating and air‑conditioning equipment for the hospital campus.
- Control temperatures in all buildings for each season using building automation systems and, when required, manual controls.
- Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on hospital equipment, reporting time, work performed, and cost of materials via the work order system.
- Assemble and install equipment and furnishings.
- Promote efficient energy usage (utilities) and maintain a clean, neat work area and mechanical rooms.
- Respond to call‑ins for any emergency and perform other work as assigned.
- Demonstrate understanding and commitment to the mission of St. Joseph Mercy Oakland through consistent behaviors aligned with Trinity Health values.
- Adhere to applicable federal, state, and local laws and ethics standards.
- Stand, walk, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl most days.
- Exposure to high levels of noise from equipment operation.
- Long hours in emergencies and potentially undesirable working situations.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs.
