Position: Tech I

Join us as an Environmental Services Technician I at North Mississippi Health Services. This entry‑level full‑time position requires a commitment to maintaining a clean and safe environment, providing high quality care support, and working collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team.

Job Summary

The Environmental Services Technician I is responsible for performing daily and special cleaning tasks that meet departmental procedures, safety, and infection control standards. The technician remains adaptable and flexible to support team needs as they arise and participates in ongoing professional development.

Job Functions
  • Perform daily cleaning of assigned areas: patient rooms, bathrooms, trash receptacles, high dusting, sanitizing, spot cleaning, inspection of empty patient rooms, and washing/disinfecting hospital walls and ceilings.
  • Perform cleaning duties for special assignments according to the department’s standard operating procedures.
  • Adhere to general safety and infection control standards.
  • Complete responsibilities in a timely, efficient, cost‑effective, confidential, and professional manner that aligns with the overall mission and vision of the hospital.
  • Attend required in‑services, performance improvement activities (including Excel), and other educational programs.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent (required).
  • Previous hospital‑setting experience preferred.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate verbally and in writing; strong communication skills to interact with departmental employees, patients, families, physicians, and the public.
  • Proficiency in providing service to a diverse patient population including newborns, infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics.
  • Strong teamwork, problem‑solving, and prioritization skills.
  • Responsibility for reporting safety hazards and cleaning emergency spills when sighted.
