Job Summary
The Welsh Blood Service invites applications for an HCPC‑registered Specialist Biomedical Scientist to work in the Red Cell Immunohaematology Laboratory. The successful candidate will have completed or be working toward a specialist qualification (IBMS Specialist Diploma in Transfusion Science & GMP or BBTS Specialist Certificate).
Main Duties of the JobThe role is based in the Red Cell Immunohaematology department and involves working as part of a team to ensure the safe management of serological patient testing throughout Wales.
Responsibilities include:
- Conduct serological investigations for hospital and antenatal patients nationwide નથી
- Manage antenatal patient testing
- Participate in a 24/7 on‑call rota
- Support the safe delivery of laboratory services

Person Specification Essential Qualifications
- BSc (Hons) in Biomedical Sciences or other IBMS‑approved honours degree for HCPC registration
- Registered with HCPC
- Laboratory‑based or GMP experience
- Problem‑solving skills
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team or independently
- Good organisational skills
- Effective written and oral communication
- Computer literate
