Role overview

The Technical Business Analyst role exists to reduce uncertainty and accelerate decision-making in areas where system complexity, integrations, or emerging technologies introduce risk. This role helps us understand, evolve, and connect our products as we grow our SaaS ecosystem.

This is not a traditional BA role. It combines deep technical investigation of existing systems with ecosystem enablement and the rollout of shared technical capabilities.

Technical BAs develop a strong understanding of how systems, services, and data behave across our product suite. They support Product and Engineering teams by validating assumptions early, surfacing constraints, and enabling faster, safer software development.

This is a technology-aligned role focused on system understanding, investigation, and enablement, rather than traditional requirements documentation or delivery ownership.

We’re looking for people who enjoy figuring out how complex software works and helping teams move faster by making that understanding visible and accessible to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities System Discovery — Understanding how our products work today
  • Investigate and understand how complex systems and services operate across our product suite
  • Analyse code, system behaviour, integrations, and data flows to build accurate system understanding
  • Create clear diagrams and lightweight artefacts that explain system behaviour, dependencies and data flow
  • Reduce reliance on undocumented knowledge by making system understanding visible and reusable
  • Produce concise, decision‑focused artefacts such as impact assessments and system maps
System Enablement — Helping Tes move faster and safer
  • Support product discovery by validating ideas that impact multiple systems or shared data
  • Surface technical constraints, risks, and trade‑offs early to reduce delivery surprises
  • Identify opportunities to reuse shared capabilities and improve cross‑product integration
  • Contribute to short‑cycle innovation work to validate feasibility and safe adoption of new approaches
  • Support the rollout and adoption of shared ecosystem services and technical capabilities
  • Collaborate closely with architects, engineers, product managers, and delivery teams
  • Help teams make faster, safer decisions when evolving our ecosystem
What will you need to succeed?
  • Experience analysing complex software systems in a technical environment
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and curiosity when working in unfamiliar software environments
  • Familiarity with cloud‑native architectures (AWS, Azure or GCP)
  • Ability to understand system architecture, APIs, and data flows
  • Strong systems thinking and investigative mindset
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder collaboration skills
  • Ability to explain technical concepts clearly to non‑technical audiences
  • Experience working in SaaS or multi‑product environments
  • Experience with system integrations and APIs
  • Experience working in Agile or product‑led organisations
What do you get in return?
  • 25 days annual leave rising to 30
  • State of the art offices
  • Access to a range of benefits via My Benefits World
  • Free eye care cover
  • Life Assurance
  • Cycle to Work Scheme
  • EAP (Employee assistance programme)
  • Quarterly Tes Socials
  • Access to an extensive Learning and Development menu
