Porting Department – Royal Glamorgan Hospital
An opportunity has arisen to join our busy Portering Department in Royal Glamorgan Hospital. The position will consist of working a rota pattern of 12 hourly shift rotation. The post holder will be expected to do the following:
- The collection and delivery of specimens.
- Medical gas cylinder delivery and collection.
- Medical device transfers.
- Waste management duties.
- Post room duties.
- Driving duties.
- Mortuary transfers.
Please note that the above is representative of the expected duties, but the list is not meant to be exhaustive. Porter services comprise of operational duties associated with waste, transport, community beds team, mail, support to cleaning services and general hospital porter duty functions.
To work within CTMUHB and routinely at all health sites, undertaking all duties as designated by the porter services supervisor/porter service team leader (within remit of the role) and as detailed in standard operating instructions for the post and site.
Welsh Skills DesirableThis post is advertised as Welsh Desirable. This doesn't mean essential; whilst the candidate doesn't need to have skills in Welsh, we'll consider it an advantage when short‑listing and selecting candidates. This isn't 'fluent', just speaking & listening skills at Level 3 (equivalent to CEFR B2) or above. Level 3 means basic conversations with patients about their everyday health.
