About the role

Elementa Wales is seeking a knowledgeable and enthusiastic fluent Welsh-speaking Health & Social Care Teacher to work with schools across Torfaen
.

We're looking for someone who can make Health & Social Care relevant, engaging and meaningful helping learners understand the real-world issues, careers and responsibilities within the health, care and wellbeing sectors.
Fluency in Welsh is essential
, as teaching will take place through the medium of Welsh.

You'll be responsible for delivering high-quality lessons, supporting learners with both theoretical and practical aspects of the subject and helping them achieve their full potential.

Key responsibilities
  • Deliver engaging Health & Social Care lessons through the medium of Welsh, in line with the relevant curriculum and qualification requirements.
  • Bring real-world health, care and wellbeing topics into the classroom.
  • Support pupils with coursework, assessments and examination preparation where appropriate.
  • Manage classroom behaviour effectively.
  • Adapt teaching to meet the needs of all learners.
  • Monitor pupil progress and provide constructive feedback.
  • Work collaboratively with school staff to support pupil achievement.
Requirements
  • Fluency in Welsh essential.
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • Strong knowledge of Health & Social Care and the relevant curriculum.
  • Strong classroom management and communication skills.
  • A positive, flexible and professional approach.
  • EWC registration, or willingness to register.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to complete a new application.
Desirable:
  • Previous experience teaching Health & Social Care within a Welsh-medium secondary school or further education setting.
  • Experience delivering relevant vocational qualifications.
  • Professional experience or knowledge of the health and social care sector.
