Job OverviewBased in County Hospital, Pontypool, MSK outpatient physiotherapy department we are seeking a dynamic, forward‑thinking clinician to join our team. You will embrace the Health Board values, have excellent communication skills, a strong team working ethos, and the ability to demonstrate leadership qualities. The role requires a solid foundation in core Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy clinical skills, commitment to shared decision‑making and evidence‑based practice.
Responsibilities- Manage a musculoskeletal clinical caseload independently with support from senior clinicians and mentors.
- Facilitate and encourage individual development of staff within the physiotherapy team.
- Assist in educating and mentoring rotational staff and physiotherapy students from Cardiff University and the University of South Wales.
- Participate in clinical audit, research, clinical supervision and mentoring.
- Engage in speciality forums and continuous professional development activities.
- Support local and Health Board‑wide education programmes.
- Work closely with the Administration team and other department colleagues.
Essential criteria
- Diploma/degree in physiotherapy.
- Registered with Health Professions Council.
- Broad range of clinical experience through a comprehensive Band 5 rotation.
- Experience of participating in and delivering in‑service training programmes.
- Varied experience within the musculoskeletal speciality.
- Experience of staff supervision.
- Physical ability to perform manual handling.
- Ability to adapt to changes in work routine.
- Ability to move between sites within the Health Board.
- Ability to discuss clinical reasoning, identify adverse signs, and apply national clinical guidelines.
- Good communication skills, teamwork, initiative, time management, and critical appraisal.
- Evidence of continuing professional development sufficient to meet HPC requirements.
Desirable criteria
- Evidence of teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate level.
- Evidence of participation in clinical and organisational audit.
- IT literacy.
- Evidence of having worked in the UK as a HPC registered physiotherapist.
- Evidence of working unsupervised.
- Evidence of participation in on‑call and seven‑day service provision where appropriate.
- Previous Band 6 position.
- MCSP qualification.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable. Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
