Job Overview

The Clinical Support Worker;
Higher Level works as part of a multidisciplinary team with minimal supervision to provide safe, patient‑centred care, and performs a range of delegated clinical duties.

• Provide effective and safe patient‑centred care and perform delegated clinical duties such as basic observations, blood glucose monitoring, phlebotomy, blood pressure, pulse oximetry, ECG, respiratory, urinalysis, pregnancy testing, venepuncture, cannulation, wound assessments, simple dressings, and catheter removal.
• Assist with personal care (bathing, toileting, dressing, feeding, emotional support) while safeguarding privacy and dignity.
• Support daily services and help maintain a positive care environment, including cleaning, restocking, and equipment management.
• Assist with patient admission, discharge, meal support and other administrative duties.
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation in both written and electronic formats.
• Ensure a safe environment, comply with COSHH, Health & Safety, report hazards, and follow escalation processes.
• Communicate effectively with patients, families and the multidisciplinary team, and handle queries professionally.
• Recognise deteriorating patients and raise concerns via datix and other channels.

• Level 3 or Level 3 Diploma (NVQ) in Health Care Support, or equivalent practical experience.
• Previous experience working in an acute hospital setting.
• Experience of team work and working in health or social care environments.
• Experience of supporting and training HCAs and apprentices.
