We are looking for a highly organised, capable and motivated individual to join our team as Deputy Registration Service Manager and Principal Statutory Post Holder. In this key role, you will provide high-level support to the Registration Service Manager, supervise the daily operations of the registration team, coordinate rotas, and provide technical guidance to maintain statutory service continuity.

As a Principal Statutory Post Holder, you will carry personal legal responsibility and accountability for all registration actions taken under your authority. You will record births, deaths, and stillbirths within statutory timescales, manage corrections, re-registrations, and space 17 amendments, and officiate statutory ceremonies (marriages, civil partnerships, and citizenship ceremonies) across the borough.

The successful candidate must possess extensive operational registration knowledge, robust data protection and cash-handling skills, and the ability to lead and support staff through change. You will have excellent customer focus, the ability to remain calm and discreet when handling highly sensitive and distressing situations, and a willingness to participate in a flexible weekend rota and a 24-hour emergency on-call service.
