Could you be the person who helps someone stay active, connected and confident in their own community?
Here at Sense, we support people with complex disabilities to live the life they choose. We are looking for a Female Communicator Guide to support one individual in the New Inn area of Pontypool with appointments, shopping, social activities and the everyday tasks that help them live life on their own terms.
Sessions run across three-hour blocks per week, between Monday and Friday, 10am to 4pm.
This post is open to female applicants only, as a Genuine Occupational Requirement under Schedule 9 of the Equality Act 2010.
What you’ll be doing
- Supporting with appointments, telephone calls and paperwork
- Accompanying the person you support to cafes, shops and social activities
- Taking walks in the local area and supporting wheelchair use
- Helping the person you support stay connected and active in their community
Who we’re looking for
- Warm, patient and a confident communicator
- Comfortable supporting someone who experiences anxiety
- Able to transfer a wheelchair into your own vehicle
- In possession of a full UK driving licence with access to your own vehicle
