Workshop Controller

Our client, a reputable multi-franchise approved car dealership based in Treforest, is seeking an experienced Workshop Controller to join their dynamic Service Department. This is an excellent opportunity for a Workshop Controller with a proven track record in managing automotive workshops to take the next step in their career within a well-established business.

• Starting basic salary circa £30,000 per annum as aWorkshop Controller
• Uncapped OTE of approximately £36,000, driven by CSI, Labour Sales, and Upsell; potential to exceed this
• Full manufacturer-approved and in-house training programmes
• 22 days annual holiday plus 8 bank holidays, increasing with service length

• 40-hour working week, Monday to Friday Duties:

• Oversee the daily operations of an 11-ramp workshop, managing a team of 10-12 Vehicle Technicians
• Coordinate workload distribution to match skill sets efficiently
• Lead, motivate, and support the workshop team to meet KPIs and performance targets
• Liaise with the Aftersales Manager on operational matters and process improvements
• Ensure exceptional customer service and communication regarding vehicle progress
• Monitor workshop efficiency and technician productivity
• Manage workshop standards in line with HSO and brand requirements
• Identify staff training needs and promote continuous professional development
• Ensure adherence to health and safety regulations and manufacturer standards
• Maintain high levels of workshop quality, reliability, and customer satisfaction

• Proven experience managing automotive workshops for a minimum of three years, ideally within a franchise-approved dealership
• Strong leadership, organisational, and communication skills
• Results-oriented with a focus on efficiency, quality, and customer satisfaction
• Good problem-solving and decision-making abilities
• Proficient in IT systems relevant to workshop management
• Full UK driving licence with minimal points
• Reside within or near Treforest or within reasonable commuting distance
