Teaching Personnel is currently recruiting a Braille Support Assistant to support a learner with a visual impairment in a school in Rhondda Cynon Taf.

This is a rewarding opportunity for an individual with Braille reading skills who is passionate about helping children access education and achieve their full potential.

The Role

As a Braille Support Assistant, you will work closely with a visually impaired learner, providing in-class support and ensuring they can fully access learning materials and participate in all aspects of school life.

Key Responsibilities

Read and interpret Braille materials accurately.
Provide one-to-one support within the classroom.
Assist with adapting learning resources where required.
Encourage independence, confidence, and engagement in learning.
Work collaboratively with teachers, SEN staff, and other professionals.
Support the learner's academic and personal development.

Requirements

Ability to read Braille confidently (essential).
Experience working with children, young people, or individuals with additional needs.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
A patient, caring, and reliable approach.
Right to work in the UK.

Desirable

Previous experience supporting learners with visual impairments.

Experience with in education, SEN, or support work settings.
Relevant qualifications in education, SEN, or disability support.
