We are looking for kind, patient and caring Teaching Assistants to support pupils aged 4–19 in specialist ALN and SEND schools in Pontypridd. These pupils may have severe autism, PMLD, communication needs, and physical or sensory needs
.

This role is ideal for people who have experience in care, support work, youth work, SEND education, or health and social care
.

As an ALN Teaching Assistant
, you will help pupils access learning and daily activities in a safe, calm and supportive environment
.

You may support pupils with:

• Severe
• Autism
• Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD)
• Complex communication needs (non‑verbal pupils)
• Sensory processing needs
• Physical or medical needs

• 1:1 or small group support
• communication using visuals, symbols or assistive communication tools
• personal care and mobility if required
• sensory activities and sensory regulation
• learning, play and life skills
• working closely with teachers, therapists and support staff
• creating a calm, predictable and structured environment

• At least 6 months’ experience supporting children or young people with additional needs
• Experience in SEND schools, care work, support work, or youth work
• A patient, nurturing and calm approach
• Strong spoken and written English
• The right to work in the UK
• A 5-year employment history with any gaps explained
• Two years of references, including one from education or care
• Enhanced DBS check (and overseas police checks if needed)
