Job Overview
As Deputy Director of Nursing, you will provide strategic and operational leadership across a broad portfolio of corporate nursing priorities. Working in close partnership with Executive Directors, Care Group Directors, and Senior Nursing and Midwifery teams, you will ensure the effective delivery of high‑quality, safe and patient‑centred care.
Responsibilities- Hold clear operational delivery responsibility for elements of the Executive Director of Nursing, Midwifery & Patient Care portfolio, ensuring that strategic objectives are translated into measurable outcomes and sustained improvements across services.
- Deputise for the Executive Director of Nursing, Midwifery & Patient Care as required, including attendance at Board and Sub‑Board Committees, providing assurance, expert professional advice and visible leadership.
- Participate in the Executive on‑call rota, contributing to organisational resilience and senior decision making.
- Lead, support and develop services and staff, delivering high quality care for patients and improved population health outcomes.
- Demonstrate a proven track record at all organisational levels and across a range of professional and organisational boundaries.
- Apply significant knowledge and experience of professional leadership and change management, quality and service improvement methodologies, and demonstrate sound knowledge of current developments in the health and care sectors locally, nationally and internationally.
- Significant experience in senior nursing leadership roles.
- Strong abilities in change management, quality improvement, and service development.
- Proven ability to translate strategic objectives into measurable outcomes.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Welsh Language Skills (Level 3 and above / B2) are desirable for this role.
