Equine Veterinary Internship – Commencing July 2026 & October 2026

This 12‑month equine veterinary internship offers an enriching experience that will set the foundation for a successful career in private practice or further postgraduate training.
OverviewBased primarily in a well‑equipped, RCVS accredited equine hospital, the role promises a diverse and engaging caseload. Interns will gain hands‑on experience in lameness investigation, anaesthesia, reproductive work, diagnostic imaging, and colic management. This comprehensive exposure ensures that by the end of the internship, candidates will have developed a broad range of competencies essential for any aspiring equine veterinarian.
Responsibilities- Integrate with the in‑patient care team, assisting with client communication and attending to emergency admissions and surgeries.
- Help coordinate out‑patient appointments and support clinical procedures.
- Conduct lameness investigations, anaesthesia, reproductive work, diagnostic imaging, and colic case management.
- Assist the veterinary team with routine and emergency caseloads.
- Complete a case report or series aimed at publication in a peer‑reviewed journal.
- Veterinary degree and a qualified Veterinary Surgeon.
- Member of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons.
- Fluency in English.
- Willingness to learn and commitment to high‑standard patient and client care.
- Accommodation provided on‑site.
- 12‑month salary of approximately £23k per annum, with accommodation and associated costs deducted.
- Out‑of‑hours rota 1:2, including phone duties.
- Access to state‑of‑the‑art facilities, including MRI and stabling for at least 20 in‑patients.
- Opportunity to meet the experienced team including a renowned specialist in equine surgery.
