Head of Software Engineering

Salary: £90,000 - 90,000 per year

• Senior leadership experience in software engineering, platform architecture, or enterprise systems
• Strong expertise in Microsoft technologies, including Power Platform, Dataverse, .NET, and Azure
• Proven track record of modernising legacy technology and delivering sustainable solutions
• Experience leading multidisciplinary teams in a complex, regulated environment
• Strong leadership and stakeholder communication skills
• Masters level education in IT, Computer Science, or equivalent experience
• Architecture certifications such as TOGAF or Azure Solutions Architect Expert are desirable

• Set strategic direction for software engineering and platform architecture
• Define and govern enterprise-wide technical architecture across applications, platforms, data, and integration
• Drive adoption of modern engineering standards and practices
• Lead and mentor a multidisciplinary team, upskilling them in new technologies
• Oversee migration from legacy systems to modern cloud-based platforms
• Work closely with data architecture teams and oversee scrum master functions
• Represent us in architecture governance forums
• Build partnerships with stakeholders and suppliers to drive innovation
• Manage budgets for software development teams and infrastructure

We are a growing digital and data function based in Cardiff, working in a hybrid model with two days per week onsite. This is a high-impact permanent leadership role, offering the opportunity to shape a major digital transformation programme and lead the consolidation of a complex legacy landscape into a single modern platform built on Microsoft Power Platform, Dataverse, .NET, and Azure.

You will lead a team of around 12, influence standards and best practice at scale, and help guide a sensitive period of organisational change. The salary for this role is £80,000 to £90,000.
