REED Practice are actively recruiting for a BOOKKEEPER for our rapidly growing Accountancy Practice for their site based in Wimborne. Working within a small team, this is a FLEXIBLE role, working on a HYBRID basis (2 /3 Days in the office) and supporting the team providing bookkeeping, accounts, VAT, and advisory services to a diverse portfolio of SMEs and individuals. Salary: £30,000 - £33,000 (depending on experience)

Role Overview

We are looking for an organised and detail-oriented Bookkeeper to manage a portfolio of clients, ensuring their financial records are accurate, up to date, and compliant. You will work closely with accountants and clients, playing a key role in delivering high-quality bookkeeping services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate financial records for a portfolio of clients
  • Process day-to-day bookkeeping transactions (sales, purchases, bank postings)
  • Perform bank and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Prepare and submit VAT returns
  • Manage purchase and sales ledgers
  • Assist with payroll processing (where applicable)
  • Prepare basic management accounts / reports
  • Handle client queries and provide support on bookkeeping matters
  • Ensure compliance with HMRC and Making Tax Digital (MTD) requirements
  • Liaise with internal team members and support year-end accounts preparation

Skills & Experience

Essential:

  • 2+ years' bookkeeping experience (preferably in an accountancy practice)
  • Strong working knowledge of cloud accounting software (e.g. Xero, Quick Books, Sage)
  • Good understanding of VAT
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple clients and deadlines
  • Strong communication skills

Desirable:

  • AAT qualified or studying (Level 3 or
    4)
  • Payroll experience
  • Experience working directly with clients
  • Knowledge of management accounts preparation
