Sibbett Gregory is a well-established independent surveying practice based in Poole, providing commercial property agency, building surveying and a wide range of professional surveying services across Dorset and the South Coast. Since our formation in 1992, our continued success has been built on delivering a high-quality service through expertise, professionalism and strong teamwork.
Due to continued growth and an increasing workload, we are seeking an enthusiastic Apprentice, Graduate or Recently Qualified Building Surveyor to join our busy Building Consultancy team. This is an excellent opportunity to develop your career within a supportive and experienced practice, with outstanding prospects for progression.
We have an exceptional track record of supporting graduates through the APC process, achieving a 100% pass rate for candidates progressing to Chartered Building Surveyor (MRICS) status. Structured training and experience across multiple surveying disciplines will be provided to support your professional development.
The Role
Working alongside our Senior Building Surveyors, you will gain experience across a diverse range of commercial and residential projects and professional instructions. Full APC support and mentoring will be provided where required.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Assisting with contract administration and Employer’s Agent roles.
- Undertaking building inspections, including:
- Building Surveys
- Condition Surveys
- Measured Surveys
- Dilapidations inspections
- Producing Schedules of Condition and Dilapidations and assisting with negotiations.
- Preparing AutoCAD drawings for Planning and Building Regulations applications.
- Assisting with Party Wall matters, including notices and awards.
- Preparing, reviewing and reporting on tender documentation.
- Producing detailed specifications of works.
- Supporting Principal Designer duties and preparing pre-construction health and safety information.
- Assisting with planning applications and related documentation.
- Providing building cost advice and insurance reinstatement valuations.
About You
We are looking for candidates who are:
- Studying towards, have recently completed, or hold a degree in Building Surveying or a related discipline.
- A graduate from a non-cognate degree background seeking a career in the surveying profession. On this basis, additional support is available to obtain either AssocRICS status or to achieve an RICS accredited Masters Degree via the Chartered Surveyor Degree Apprentice scheme (subject to eligibility requirements).
- Recently qualified and looking to broaden your experience within a private practice environment.
- Have a genuine interest in developing a career in Building Surveying.
- Possess strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Are organised, proactive and keen to learn.
- Have a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience with AutoCAD would be advantageous.
- Hold a full UK driving licence (preferred).
Salary & Benefits
Competitive salary, dependent on experience (£24,000 – £34,000).
