* Role Overview
This is an entry‑level position for someone looking to build a career in building surveying, asset data collection, and compliance‑based technical surveying. The Trainee Surveyor will support our senior team on a wide range of projects inc. building condition surveys, mechanical & electrical surveys, asset verification, fire safety inspections and facilities management data capture.
You will learn how to assess buildings, gather accurate technical information, use digital surveying tools & produce structured survey outputs to support clients in education, healthcare, commercial & the public‑sector.
Key Responsibilities
Assist senior surveyors with building condition surveys across fabric, mechanical and electrical systems
Support the collection and verification of asset data for M&E plant, equipment and building systems
Carry out basic on‑site inspections, measurements & photographic evidence gathering
Use digital tools to record accurate data
Help prepare survey notes, schedules, & draft reports
Follow health & safety procedures and safe‑working practices on all sites
Engage with clients & site representatives professionally
Maintain organised records, logs, & documentation
Participate in structured training & development plans to progress toward Surveyor level
Skills & Attributes
Strong attention to detail & accuracy
Good problem‑solving ability & willingness to learn technical concepts
Confident communicator with a professional manner
Comfortable working on‑site in schools, colleges, commercial buildings & public estates
Basic understanding of buildings, construction or engineering (advantage but not essential)
Ability to work independently & as part of a team.
Competent with technology (tablets, apps, cloud‑based systems)
Qualifications
Essential:
GCSEs or equivalent (English & Maths minimum).
Interest in buildings, engineering, facilities, or technical surveying.
Desirable:
BTEC, NVQ or similar in construction, engineering, or building services.
Any experience in FM, maintenance, trades, or technical roles
Full English Driving licence
Training & Development
Bluerose will provide structured training including:
Building condition surveying
Mechanical & electrical asset identification
Survey software and digital data capture
Health & safety and site awareness
Fire safety fundamentals
SFG
20 and FM maintenance principles
Report writing and technical communication
Progression routes:
Surveyor → Senior Surveyor → Technical Lead → Project Manager

What Success Looks Like
Within 6–12 months, the Trainee Surveyor should be able to:
Independently survey small buildings or specific systems
Produce accurate asset data sets
Contribute to building condition reports
Understand core M&E plant and building fabric elements
Represent Bluerose professionally on client sites
