Teaching Assistant – SEND Specialist (ASC)

Full‑Time, Term Time Only

• Provide consistent 1:1 support to a Year 2 pupil with ASC, supporting academic, social and emotional development
• Implement individual support strategies tailored to the pupil’s needs and learning style
• Promote positive behaviour, independence and engagement within the classroom
• Support access to the curriculum through adapted resources and visual supports
• Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to ensure consistent and effective provision
• Monitor progress and contribute to reviews and feedback discussions
• Help maintain a calm, inclusive and structured learning environment
• Engage with training and professional development to support best practice in SEND

• Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant or supporting children with ASC or SEND
• Strong understanding of strategies to support pupils with autism in a primary school setting
• Calm, patient and empathetic approach to learning and behaviour support
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with staff and parents
• Relevant TA or SEND qualifications desirable but not essential
• A strong commitment to safeguarding and pupil wellbeing
