Job Title: Specialist Teacher (English and Maths)
Location: BH12, Bournemouth
Hours: Part-time, 5-10 hours a week, Monday to Friday, 10-12 pm (option to take on additional students if full-time vacancy is preferred)
Pay: £30-35 per hour PAYE
About the RoleWe are seeking a patient, nurturing SEN Teacher or Specialist Tutor to support a 14-year-old female learner who requires urgent, personalised tuition in English and Maths.
This role is ideal for an educator who is skilled at re‑engaging learners who have lost confidence, can work at a learner’s pace, and understands how emotional wellbeing and learning are closely linked.
The student is friendly, bubbly, and socially motivated, but currently finds learning challenging and may disengage when tasks feel overwhelming. She benefits most from calm, relationship‑led teaching, clear explanations, and an adult who can help rebuild her belief in herself as a learner.

- Create a safe, calm, and encouraging learning environment
- Adapt learning to suit communication and processing needs
- Use short, achievable tasks to promote engagement and success
- Support emotional regulation and learner confidence
- Build a positive, consistent relationship with the student
- Work collaboratively with family and professionals
- Complete brief session reports and feedback
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent (e.g. PGCE)
- Minimum 2 years’ teaching or tutoring experience
- Strong experience supporting learners with SEN, particularly language and engagement needs
- Confidence in adapting curriculum content well below age‑related expectations
- Calm, empathetic, and flexible teaching approach
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service & right to work in the UK
- Excellent safeguarding knowledge
