Role Summary

You will plan and deliver engaging, inclusive and well‑structured lessons, create a positive learning environment, and ensure all teaching meets College expectations as well as awarding‑body and regulatory requirements. Alongside delivering excellent classroom practice, you will contribute to curriculum development, provide academic and pastoral support, and work collaboratively with colleagues to maintain outstanding standards of achievement, retention and progression. A strong commitment to professional development is essential to ensure an excellent learner experience.

Key Responsibilities Teaching, Learning and Assessment
  • Plan and deliver high‑quality, engaging and inclusive teaching across a range of delivery methods
  • Complete associated preparation, marking, feedback and administrative duties
  • Provide academic and pastoral support, acting as Personal Tutor where required
  • Ensure learners understand programme expectations and receive regular, constructive feedback
  • Implement induction processes and contribute to learner reviews
  • Set, assess and record assignments in line with awarding‑body and College requirements
  • Support the organisation of relevant work placements where appropriate
Curriculum and Quality
  • Contribute to curriculum design, development and continuous improvement
  • Ensure teaching, assessment and quality processes meet awarding‑body and regulatory standards
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance, progress, assessment and learner destinations
  • Support the maintenance of a high‑quality learning environment, including displays and resources
  • Identify resource needs and support planning and budgeting
  • Engage in course evaluation, self‑assessment and quality‑improvement activities
Collaboration and Liaison
  • Work effectively as part of the teaching team, contributing to programme‑area and College initiatives
  • Participate in school liaison, open events, parents’ evenings and employer or external‑partner engagement
  • Maintain effective links with employers, assessors, moderators and examination bodies
  • Support the College’s admissions and progression processes
Professional Practice
  • Participate in annual appraisal, teaching observations and quality‑enhancement activities
  • Undertake continuous professional development to maintain subject expertise and teaching excellence
  • Contribute to College committees, working groups and cross‑College initiatives as required
Other Responsibilities
  • Engage in ongoing CPD in line with industry standards and professional‑body expectations
  • Comply with all College policies, including Data Protection, Quality Assurance and UK GDPR
  • Uphold safeguarding responsibilities and promote a safe learning environment
  • Represent the College professionally at all times
  • Complete mandatory and role‑specific training
  • Follow Health and Safety regulations and risk‑assessment procedures
  • Ensure adherence to the College’s Financial Regulations
  • Promote and champion equality, diversity and inclusion
  • Undertake any other reasonable duties to support the effective operation of the programme area or College
