Full time/Term time. Teachers Pay Scale, Plus SEN1 Allowance: £32,916 to £51,048 annual salary.
Winchelsea School is a community special school committed to meeting the needs of pupils, aged 4 to 19, with a wide range of learning difficulties. We work in collaboration with a number of local schools, running successful satellite provision in classrooms at Old Town Infant School, Canford Heath Junior School, Kinson Academy and Magna Academy.
Governors wish to appoint an additional innovative, resilient, enthusiastic and committed teacher to join our school as soon as possible.
Experience of special needs education, in particular of severe and complex learning difficulties would be beneficial but a passion and desire to work in this field of education is considered the most important factor.
Qualifications- Experienced in working with pupils who have special educational needs in a special or mainstream context or be able to demonstrate that they have a genuine passion and desire to work in a special school.
- Able to demonstrate good subject and curriculum knowledge.
- Able to demonstrate an ability to use specialised communication techniques in working with children with complex needs.
- Creative, committed and passionate with high expectations of themselves and others.
- Able to build positive relationships with children and all relevant stakeholders.
- Flexible and possess a positive approach to change and challenge, demonstrating a willingness to contribute to the school's vision and goals and to its improvement agenda.
Candidates should be aware that we run satellite classrooms, based at local schools. All staff may be required to work at any of these locations, at any given time.

Keeping Children Safe in Education – Winchelsea School will conduct online searches of shortlisted candidates. This check will be part of a safeguarding check, and the search will purely be based on whether an individual is suitable to work with children. All aspects of social media and internet searches will be conducted. As care must be taken to avoid unconscious bias and any risk of discrimination, a person who will not on the appointment panel will conduct the searches and will only share information if and when findings are relevant and of concern.
