Fixed Term 1:1 Teaching Assistant – Springdale First School
Fixed term until 31 August 2027. 30.84 hours per week, term time only, 39 weeks per year including inset days.
Salary: £18,862 – £19,161 per annum (actual) or £26,427 – £26,846 per annum full time equivalent.

Fixed term contract.
Support a named pupil with a primary diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and/or attachment difficulties, working 1:1 and in small groups to meet their educational and behavioural needs.
Candidate Profile- Understanding of the needs and challenges faced by pupils with ASD and/or attachment difficulties.
- Knowledge of potential triggers and strategies to help pupils self‑regulate and manage responses.
- Knowledge of PEIC‑D would be desirable.
- Highly motivated, creative, enthusiastic and suitably qualified.
- Experience working as part of a small, dedicated team with individual pupils and small groups.
- Ability to respond to the individual learning needs of pupils, adapting times and resources as required.
- Responsive and reflective practitioner.
- Flexible and adaptable to meet pupils’ needs.
- Capability to maintain accurate records of pupil progress, behaviour and interaction.
- Ability to participate in and contribute to whole team planning sessions.
- Ability to plan and lead practical sessions supporting the pupil’s learning.
- Support pupils during regular off‑site trips and visits.
- Support pupils to develop life skills linked to their learning (handling money, shopping, etc.).
- Calm and positive response to challenging behaviour.
- Maintain high expectations for behaviour, social interaction, learning potential and attainment.
- Adherence to behaviour policy guidelines.
- Sense of humour.
- Commitment to supporting all pupils to achieve and thrive to the best of their ability.
- Willingness to undertake training linked to supporting pupils’ needs.
- Ability to interact with parents and families, building positive relationships in support of pupils.
- Natural multi‑tasker with strong organisational and administrative skills.
- Excellent written, communication and interpersonal skills.
- Detail‑oriented with a “right first time” mindset, completing work to a high standard.
- Self‑starter, motivated to use initiative with good attention to detail.
- Experience in an administrative role, undertaking a variety of tasks.
