Learning Mentor – SEMH Provision – Poole
9:00am – 3:00pm | Monday to Friday | Term Time Only
Full UK Driving Licence Required

GSL Education are proud to be working in partnership with a highly respected and expanding SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) Alternative Provision in Poole, supporting the recruitment of a dedicated Learning Mentor.
This is a unique opportunity to join a setting that is transforming the lives of young people aged 5 to 16, providing tailored education pathways for students who have been referred by the Local Education Authority due to a range of social, emotional, behavioural and additional needs.
The provision is built on a strong ethos of flexibility, creativity, and individualized learning. Every student receives a bespoke timetable designed around their needs, interests, and long-term outcomes, with a strong emphasis on engagement, trust-building, and personal development.
A significant focus is placed on Physical Education, outdoor learning, and activity-based engagement, making this an especially exciting opportunity for individuals with a sports, coaching, or youth work background.
The Role Will Involve:- Supporting students with SEMH and associated additional needs on a 1:1 and small group basis
- Delivering and facilitating engaging Physical Education and outdoor learning sessions (Optional)
- Building strong, positive and consistent relationships with students
- Supporting behaviour regulation and emotional development strategies
- Working flexibly both on-site and off-site (community-based learning)
- Assisting in the delivery of individualized learning plans and timetables
- Encouraging engagement, resilience, and re-integration into learning pathways
- Passionate about supporting young people with additional needs
- Confident managing challenging behaviour in a calm, consistent manner
- Ideally experienced in sports coaching, youth work, SEN, or behaviour support
- Able to build trust and motivate disengaged learners
- Flexible, resilient, and proactive in their approach
- Hold a full UK driving licence (essential due to off-site learning)
