Fortress Recruit is now looking for a Systems Engineer to join a leading defence organisation as part of their growing engineering team, responsible for delivering advanced systems used across global defence programmes.
You'll work on a mixture of programmes and customer projects, taking ownership of complete system designs from requirements through to customer delivery. The business is investing heavily in new product development and redesign programmes making this an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys solving complex engineering challenges whilst influencing future product development.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Leading the technical delivery of customer projects across the full systems engineering lifecycle
- Acting as the technical authority for system designs, supporting multidisciplinary engineering teams throughout delivery
- Developing, reviewing and maintaining system requirements, technical documentation and engineering baselines
- Supporting system architecture, integration, verification and customer acceptance activities
- Leading technical and design reviews whilst working closely with customers throughout project delivery
- Supporting product redesign activities, system architecture development and future technology roadmaps
- Working closely with software, electronics, mechanical and production engineers to deliver robust, manufacturable solutions
- Managing engineering change, configuration control and technical documentation
- Supporting continuous improvement, product development and engineering best practice
- Maintaining engineering documentation including cable drawings and system documentation
To be considered for this role, you'll have:
- A Degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering or a related discipline
- Previous experience working within full lifecycle Systems Engineering from requirements through to delivery
- The ability to produce and review high quality technical documentation
- Experience working with engineering configuration control and change management
- Knowledge of electrical system design and engineering documentation
- Experience using Solid Works Electrical, Draft Sight or similar electrical CAD software would be highly advantageous
- An interest in future technologies, product development and continuous improvement
- Eligibility for SC clearance (5 years' UK residency without visa or sponsorship requirement)

This is a full-time, permanent role looking to pay £50-55K. Based in Poole with hybrid working opportunity, there may also be occasional travel across the UK and overseas to support engineering activities, customer engagements and project requirements.
