About The Power House

The Power House is a creative community hub dedicated to improving wellbeing and connection through arts and participation. We believe creativity brings people together and strengthens communities. Joining a small Board, our Treasurer will support the charity into its next exciting phase.

What difference will you make?

The Treasurer provides governance and strategic financial oversight to ensure that The Power House delivers its charitable objectives sustainably and within its means. Along with the rest of the Board, they act as ambassadors for our work and champions for the community we serve in Hamworthy, Poole.

What are we looking for?

We’re seeking people who care passionately about community wellbeing and creativity, and who can bring professional finance or accountancy skills to the Board. Knowledge and skills in any of the following would also be welcome:

  • Has experience in financial management, accountancy or business finance (qualified or by experience)
  • Understands charity finances (or is willing to learn)
  • Can explain financial performance with clarity
  • Is collaborative, supportive, and committed to the organisation’s mission
  • Shares our values of inclusion, creativity, and community wellbeing
  • Familiarity with accounting software (we use Xero)

In addition to the Board we have a small group of advisors who provide pro‑bono advice as and when required.

What will you be doing?

The Treasurer will provide financial oversight and guidance to ensure that The Power House remains financially sustainable, compliant, and transparent in its financial management. They will work closely with our internal Bookkeeper, Project Managers, and fellow Trustees to oversee budget setting, financial reporting, and contribute towards developing the fundraising strategy.

We're all about community wellbeing and enabling creativity - we have a Community Hub with an office and a Community Garden within minutes of the Hub; both spaces bring people together to create, to grow, and to develop. After 8 years of community consultation, the new appointee will join us during one of the most exciting phases of our journey to date.
