Make a Meaningful Difference Every Day

Are you looking for a rewarding role where your support, encouragement, and compassion can help someone live as independently and confidently as possible following a brain injury?

Head First is recruiting two dedicated and compassionate Support Workers on behalf of our client to help establish a new support package in Poole, Dorset.

This is a fantastic opportunity to support a gentleman in his early 30s to work towards his personal goals, build confidence, and enjoy a fulfilling and meaningful life. While there is not currently a rehabilitation team in place, this will be gradually implemented over the next 6-12 months, creating an exciting opportunity to be part of a developing, person‑centred support arrangement from an early stage.

About

the Role

You will provide person‑centred support and companionship within the client's own home and out in the community. Working independently under the guidance of the Case Manager, you will help the client maintain routines, access meaningful activities, and continue progressing towards agreed goals as the rehabilitation provision is developed.

Your role will include:
  • Supporting daily living routines while promoting independence, choice, and confidence
  • Encouraging community access, social opportunities, hobbies, and interests
  • Supporting outdoor activities in a range of weather conditions, where appropriate and desired by the client
  • Assisting with attendance at clinical appointments and advocating for the client's physical and mental health needs where required
  • Maintaining regular communication with the Clinical Case Manager regarding the client's needs and ongoing support
  • Supporting therapy‑led rehabilitation programmes as these are gradually introduced over the coming 6-12 months
About the client
  • Working towards improved physical and mental wellbeing, with rehabilitation input planned to be introduced gradually over the coming 6-12 months
  • Volunteering with local community providers
  • Spending quality time with family
  • Getting outdoors and taking part in adventurous activities such as cycling, remote control cars in open spaces, shooting ranges, and motocross when appropriate and safe to do so
What We Offer
  • A comprehensive induction and structured training programme
  • Ongoing supervision, appraisal, and professional support
  • Continuous professional development opportunities
  • Specialist training in brain injury rehabilitation
  • The opportunity to work alongside a skilled multidisciplinary team
  • A friendly, supportive, and person‑centred working environment
About You

We welcome applicants from a wide range of backgrounds. What matters most is your attitude, reliability, compassion, and willingness to learn.

You will demonstrate:
  • A genuine passion for supporting others to live well and achieve their goals
  • Strong communication and listening skills
  • The ability to understand and respond to the client's preferences, needs, and routines
  • A flexible, reliable, and proactive approach
  • Willingness to take part in therapy‑led and outdoor activities, including in varied weather conditions where appropriate
  • Confidence following guidance from the case manager and when in place, supporting goal‑focused rehabilitation
Essential requirements:
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Enhanced DBS check (paid for if required)
