The Buyer will play a key role in ensuring the timely and cost-effective procurement of materials, components and subcontract services to support production and business operations. Working closely with suppliers and internal teams, the successful candidate will manage purchasing activities, negotiate competitive pricing, monitor supplier performance and ensure delivery deadlines are met.

Duties and Responsibilities

Manage the purchasing of raw materials, components and subcontract services to meet production requirements.
Raise purchase orders in line with customer demand, stock levels and MRP schedules.
Source new suppliers and obtain competitive quotations to ensure value for money.
Negotiate pricing, lead times and commercial terms with suppliers.
Build and maintain strong supplier relationships to ensure reliable service and delivery.
Monitor supplier performance against cost, quality and delivery targets.
Coordinate with production and operational teams to ensure materials and services are available when required.
Track deliveries, resolve supply issues and ensure deadlines are met.
Maintain accurate supplier records and purchasing information within the MRP system.
Ensure relevant quality documentation, supplier approvals and confidentiality agreements are in place.
Monitor purchasing expenditure, identify cost-saving opportunities and account for additional costs.
Review supplier invoices and resolve discrepancies prior to payment.
Manage competing priorities effectively to support day-to-day operational requirements.
Skills and Experience

Previous experience in a purchasing or procurement role.
Strong negotiation and supplier relationship management skills.
Experience sourcing materials, components and subcontract services.
Commercial awareness with a focus on cost control and value for money.
Ability to interpret MRP requirements and manage purchasing schedules.
