We have an excellent opportunity for a Shift Manager to join the Ryvita team at Poole.
The Shift Manager is responsible for either Bakery 1 or Bakery 2 and ensuring a safe, compliant, and productive working environment during their shift. The role involves enforcing and promoting safety standards, managing shift operations and resources to deliver the production plan efficiently, ensuring quality standards are met, driving continuous improvement, and engaging and developing the team to perform at their best.
Provide coverage for both bakeries when the Shift Manager at the other bakery is unavailable or absent.
This is a permanent and full-time position, working 39 hours per week, Monday – Friday. We operate a 3‑shift rotation, with a week on each shift pattern before rotating to the next shift pattern.
Shift Schedule- Week 1 – 06:00 – 14:00
- Week 2 – 22:00 – 06:00
- Week 3 – 14:00 – 22:00
- Embed a safety‑first culture by setting the standard, holding the team accountable, and ensuring full compliance with safety policies and regulations.
- Ensure all operations meet company quality standards, customer expectations, and food safety regulations including HACCP.
- Identify and drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance safety, quality, efficiency, and team performance.
- Promote innovation and challenge poor practices to foster a culture of excellence.
- Engage the team in problem‑solving and improvement activities using Lean or Six Sigma principles where applicable.
- Build, lead, and inspire a high‑performing shift team through clear communication, support, coaching, and recognition.
- Manage team recruitment, onboarding, training, performance, and succession planning.
- Provide coverage for both bakeries when the Shift Manager at the other bakery is unavailable or absent.

Key skills and experience:
- Experience with in FMCG production environment
- Ability to make sound and timely operational decisions and know when to escalates
- Strong leadership skills
- Proven experience with risk identification, management, mitigation or removal
- Health and Safety Champion
- Knowledge of Food Safety legislation
- Experience in capital / improvement projects would be an advantage
