Opportunity

As an Operations Officer you’ll work from modern and open plan offices. The primary function of this role is to assist maritime assets minimising security risks on the open waters. You will be a primary point of contact in ensuring safety of seafarers. This is a full-time role involving shift-based work, including weekends, to ensure operational coverage. Working hours will average 38.5 hours per week.

Due to the nature of the business, an on‑call rota may be required as part of this role.

Someone who has some maritime experience or has come from a services background with exposure to crisis response, management or avoidance would be uniquely suited to this role.

Responsibilities
  • Monitor vessels, routes, and maritime activity in real time to identify, assess, and respond to security or safety risks
  • Act as a primary point of contact for captains and clients, providing timely operational guidance and crisis support should it be required
  • Deliver Master’s Briefs vessels transiting high-risk or voluntary reporting areas
  • Issue real-time maritime security alerts and incident updates
  • Manage and respond to operational incidents, alarms, and system notifications, including tracking device or power disconnection alerts
  • Communicate effectively via phone and email during time‑critical situations, ensuring clear, calm, and accurate information exchange
  • Track vessel compliance and reporting, logging issues and escalating risks as required
  • Prepare detailed route risk reports and maintain accurate operational records and documentation
  • Provide first‑line troubleshooting and support for monitoring and tracking systems
  • Support onboarding and training of new Operations Officers
  • Contribute to continuous operational coverage through shift work and participation in the on‑call rota
Required Skills
  • Experience working in a shift‑based operations, control room, or incident/crisis response environment
  • Strong situational awareness and ability to assess risk and make sound decisions under pressure
  • Calm, confident communicator able to engage effectively with clients and stakeholders during time‑critical or high‑stress situations
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in logging, reporting, and data management
  • Strong multitasking and prioritisation skills across competing operational demands
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and operational IT systems
  • Ability to follow structured processes while responding flexibly to changing circumstances
  • Collaborative team player with a proactive, service‑focused mindset
  • Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and on‑call coverage
