Overview
The State Medical Examiner's Office (MEO), within the Division of Forensic Sciences, Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) provides complete forensic pathology services to 155 of Georgia’s 159 counties in deaths which qualify as coroner cases under the Georgia Death Investigation Act. The MEO is seeking qualified applicants to a Computed Tomography (CT) Technician position. This position will be located at the GBI Headquarters Medical Examiner’s Office in Decatur, Georgia.

The Chief Medical Examiner for the State of Georgia oversees the GBI’s medical examiner program and assists in establishing policies and guidelines for all Georgia coroners and local medical examiners. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation has been internationally accredited by CALEA.
Duties and ResponsibilitiesFollowing protocols established by the Medical Examiner’s Office, the Computed Tomography (CT) Technologist will:
Associate's degree or diploma in radiologic technology from an accredited college or university or program and American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification.

Demonstrated CompetenciesCompetencies needed to successfully perform this job include:
Must be able to perform heavy lifting (up to 75 pounds) and stand for long periods of time.
Work EnvironmentThis position requires the incumbent to work in a forensic/morgue office setting with a shared workspace and may require rotating on-call work outside normal business hours, including nights and weekends.
Additional NotesThis position may require travel and operating a state vehicle. A valid Georgia driver’s license is required.
