Employment Terms- Employment terms covering compensation, benefits, and working conditions are specified by the Board of Education’s policies, procedures, and agreements.
- 218 days or 12‑month contract days depending upon the building assignment.
- Salary is dependent upon experience.
The elementary principal serves as the administrative and instructional leader, focusing on creating a safe, supportive, and engaging learning environment for students while fostering professional growth among staff and maintaining strong relationships with parents and the community.
Qualifications- Valid Missouri educator certification for elementary principal.
- Master’s degree in an approved program for elementary principal certification.
- Specialist or Doctorate degree is preferred.
- Knowledge of current research on elementary education and best educational practices at the elementary level.
- Knowledgeable of teaching techniques that meet the diverse needs of students.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Skills in human relations, leadership, and conflict management.
- Demonstrate working effectively with community groups, parents, and agencies.
- Working knowledge of Professional Learning Communities is preferred.
- Develop and implement a strategic vision for academic success in alignment with district goals.
- Supervise curriculum planning, delivery, and assessment to meet diverse student needs.
- Use data‑driven analysis to monitor and improve student achievement and instructional effectiveness.
- Support and encourage professional development for teachers and staff to enhance instructional practices.
- Lead efforts to integrate technology and innovative teaching strategies into the classroom.
- Oversee daily school operations, including schedules, budgets, and resource allocation.
- Ensure compliance with district, state, and federal policies and regulations.
- Maintain a safe and well‑maintained physical environment, including emergency preparedness and safety protocols.
- Develop and manage the school budget to support academic and operational priorities.
- Promote an inclusive environment that supports the academic, social, and emotional needs of all students.
- Implement positive behavior and discipline programs to encourage respectful, responsible conduct.
- Collaborate with counselors, teachers, and families to address individual student challenges.
- Seek professional development opportunities on current research and best practices in the profession.
- Recruit, hire, and retain qualified and diverse staff members.
- Evaluate certified teacher and classified staff performance, providing constructive feedback and support.
- Foster a collaborative, team‑oriented culture among staff.
- Recognize and celebrate the achievements and contributions of faculty and staff.
- Act as the primary representative of the school within the local community.
- Build strong relationships with parents, families, and community stakeholders.
- Communicate effectively through regular updates, newsletters, and meetings.
- Encourage parent and community involvement in school activities and decision‑making.
- Cultivate a positive, inclusive school culture that values diversity, equity, and respect.
- Set high expectations for student and staff success while maintaining a supportive atmosphere.

- Ability to work in a climate‑controlled building, as well as in inclement weather.
- Ability to stand, walk, and move around for long periods of time.
- Ability to see and read, with or without vision aids, a computer screen and printed matter, and to distinguish colors.
- Sufficient hearing to understand speech at normal room levels, and to hear and understand speech on the telephone.
- Manual dexterity to operate a telephone and enter data into a computer using both hands.
- Ability to communicate effectively and efficiently with sufficient volume to be heard in normal conversation, on the telephone, and addressing groups.
