Job Purpose and Summary

As a Staff Pharmacist, you oversee the pharmacy’s day‑to‑day operations, support the Pharmacy Manager, and deliver high‑quality, patient‑centered service in all areas of pharmacy practice.

Responsibilities
  • Manage and improve patient health through safe and appropriate dispensing, counseling, and immunizing practices.
  • Act as Pharmacy Manager’s proxy during bench shifts, including coaching and performance follow‑up of pharmacy team members.
  • Assume day‑to‑day duties of the Pharmacy Manager when acting as the primary or sole pharmacist‑on‑duty.
  • Oversee safe and accurate prescription fulfillment, enforcing workflow procedures and safety guardrails.
  • Provide empathetic, compassionate care and coach the team to resolve insurance and medication issues.
  • Offer and deliver immunizations, supporting Pharmacy Technicians in immunization training.
  • Manage pharmacy inventory, especially cold‑chain products, and coach the team on best practices.
  • Ensure compliance with state Board of Pharmacy regulations and report issues to the Pharmacy Manager or Rx DL.
  • Maintain flexibility for scheduling while fostering a safe, inclusive team dynamic.
  • Continue clinical and technical skill development through required training and continuing medical education.
  • Expand pharmacist‑delivered clinical care and empower the team to provide holistic care throughout the patient journey.
  • Adhere to all federal and state laws, professional standards, ethical principles, and CVS Health policies, including controlled substance handling and patient privacy.
Required Qualifications
  • Active Pharmacist License in the state where the store is located.
  • Active National Provider Identifier (NPI).
  • Not on the DEA Excluded Parties list.
Essential Functions
  • Regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends.
  • Complete required training within the designated timeframe.
  • Attention and Focus: concentrate on tasks, pivot quickly, and confirm prescription information for safety.
  • Customer Service and Team Orientation: help people in a friendly manner and respond to patient reactions.
  • Communication

    Skills:

    use verbal and written communication, active listening, and clarity.
  • Mathematical Reasoning: calculate dosage, supply, and bottle numbers.
  • Issue Resolution: identify challenging interactions and select best actions.
  • Physical Demands: mobile, upright, lifting, reaching, typing, and occasional lifting of up to 20 lbs.
  • Additional tasks as directed by Supervisor or Manager.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 1‑2 years of related pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service experience.
  • Ability to work in other locations across the market as required.

Pay Range

Bases hourly rate: $60.00 – $71.00. The actual offer depends on experience, education, geography, and other factors.
