About The JobResponsible for providing tooling support to manufacturing. This includes processing of mandrels and templates using a variety of machining, cutting, welding, grinding, and finishing processes (CNC machine, hand bending, CNC Mill, Surfcam, table saw, radial arm saw, band saw, scroll saw, planner, joiner, drill press, drum sander, belt/disc sander, router, and various hand tools). Processes require blueprint and specification interpretation, use of inspection equipment, and accountability for product quality, housekeeping, and safety.
This position reports to the Engineering team and is supervised by the department supervisor and/or Manager.
Key Responsibilities- Blueprint reading and processing.
- Operation of CNC Mill, Surfcam, table saw, radial arm saw, band saw, drill press, sanders, planer, joiner, aluminum/steel welders, plasma cutter, and various hand tools.
- Document actions by logging mandrels, jigs and tools as they process through the department.
- Track modifications made to repair mandrels, jigs and fixtures.
- Work toward continuous improvement in all processes to maximize efficiency.
- Collaborate closely with production, customer service, and engineering to meet business needs.
- Maintain reliable attendance. The employee must be able to work regular or flexible hours or shifts, overtime before and after, and weekends.
- Other tasks or duties as assigned.
- Strong communication skills: verbal, written, listening, and understanding.
- Skilled in welding and fabrication work.
- Experience with problem‑solving, standard work, specification interpretation, and product functionality.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong team player who proactively supports other team members and shares knowledge for cross‑training.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, use hands to manipulate tools or controls, and speak or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms, and must often lift and move up to 40 pounds. Close vision is required.

Work EnvironmentThe noise level is typically moderate to loud. Temperatures can vary widely, including extreme conditions. Gates is managed in accordance with OSHAS requirements and requires all employees to wear steel‑toed shoes, safety glasses, and a hard hat.
